Exciting news for the region’s hockey players, with redevelopment works commencing at the home of Hockey Geelong at Corio’s Stead Park.

Lara MP Ella George has described it as never-before-seen investment in hockey across our region.

“We are completely redeveloping the hockey facilities. There’s going to be a new pitch and a new pavillion,” she said.

The ground floor of the new two-storey pavilion will feature four change rooms, match officials’ change rooms, a canteen, equipment storage, and a first aid room.

“The new facilities will be fantastic for women and girl who want to get out there and play hockey, with female-friendly change rooms and beautiful facilities for all hockey players who want to get in and give it a go,” the local MP said.

The second storey will include a social space, meeting room, and kitchen, with seating on the terrace overlooking both pitches.

“It’s absolutely amazing for local hockey players. It’s going to have the ability to attract national and international games to the heart of Corio,” Ms George said.

There will also be additional parking, including accessible options.
