More PSOs to tackle retail crime

A new plan to tackle retail crime has been unveiled.

The Victorian government has announced it will put $150 million towards expanded efforts to tackle retail crime.

That will include 150 Protective Services Officers, to be deployed to shopping centres and crime hot spots.

Operation Pulse will also be expanded – it currently includes Geelong’s CBD and Pacific Werribee.

Premier Ben Carroll said it was about community safety.

“To go to places Victorians need and want them – high crime spots,” he said.

“Community safety is our highest priority.”
