Mother of hospitalised student says son was not vaping

A 13-year old Bannockburn P-12 College student is at home recovering after being taken to hospital because he was found unconscious in his school toilets early Thursday morning.

Media reports suggested the teenager was suspected to have been vaping when he collapsed and was later found by students, promptingemergency services to attend the Milton Street school before 09:00am.

Ambulance Victoria says the patient was transported to Geelong hospital in a stable condition.

His mother says she searched the bag and coat of her son and found no vaping implements, though the reason for his episode remains unclear with tests ongoing.

The school referred comment on the matter to the Department of Education, where a spokesperson confirmed that “a Bannockburn student was taken by ambulance to hospital after a minor medical incident this morning.”
