A local netball club will soon have a second court, with funding allocated in the 2026/27 state budget.
$450,000 will go towards the construction of a second netball court for the North Geelong Football Netball Club, at their Osbourne Park Reserve home ground.
The club is currently the only one in the Geelong and District Football and Netball League without a second court.
Member for Lara Ella George said having just the sole court has placed extra pressure on teams and volunteers, and restricted their ability to host games, including finals.
““We’re backing the North Geelong netballers because we know how important sporting clubs are to our community,” she said.
“Every sporting club – including clubs in Geelong’s northern suburbs – deserve world class facilities. And that’s exactly what this funding will deliver.”
The news has been welcomed by club legend Kelly Parker.
“I am over the moon with this news it means so much to the netball section, from our mini magpies right through to our senior sides. We can’t thank Ella George enough,” she said.
