A project to replace street lights across Geelong is drawing closer to completion.
It’s taken close to five years but has seen more than 22 thousand lights replaced with energy efficient LEDs.
That includes 14,500 lights for residential areas.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj said it will make a major difference for the town.
“This smart LED technology not only improves public safety and lighting quality, but also dramatically reduces our energy use and carbon footprint,” he said.
“The partnership with Powercor has been instrumental in delivering this transformation, and the smart control system opens the door to future Smart City innovations.”
