It has been revealed Greater Geelong paramedics had the second highest workload in Victoria during the three months to December.
New figures show local ambulance crews were called to 5,059 code one cases in the quarter, which was just over five per cent of Victoria’s emergencies.
Paramedics took 14 minutes and 24 seconds to respond to emergencies, which is just over 20 seconds longer than the previous quarter.
However, more than 71 per cent of code one cases were responded to within the 15 minute timeframe.
Ambulance Victoria is again urging locals to consider the most appropriate care for their situation if it is not life-threatening, with options including local urgent care clinics, GPs and pharmacists.
