Hospitality businesses on the Surf Coast can apply to have a parklet to expand their dining area outdoors.
Surf Coast Councillors last week adopted outdoor dining parklet guidelines, which will use car parking spaces outside a business.
It follows a successful trial at The Beach Hotel in Jan Juc, where most respondents were in favour of the dining option.
The parklet started as a Fresh Air Dining Program during COVID-19 restrictions, to allow cafes and restaurants to work beyond alfresco areas.
The council says local businesses are being invited to submit an expression of interest to apply for a permit.
Operators are being advised there will be requirements to be eligible for a permit, including location, design and waste management.
