Eleven fines have been issued during a police operation across Geelong’s northern suburbs.
The Public Order Response Team (PORT) along with Highway Patrol, local officers and the Sheriff’s Office worked together on Thursday, focussing on North Geelong and Corio.
They conducted more than 400 preliminary breath tests.
The offences detected included speeding, driving unregistered vehicles and licensing issues.
Acting Sergeant Matt Nauta said it was about reducing road trauma, while also boosting community safety.
“Not only did we have breath testing sites, but we also conducted static and roving patrols in vehicles to detect and deter offending,” he said.
“Already this year we’ve seen far too many lives lost and it needs to stop.
“Our message is clear: if you do the wrong thing, you will be caught.
“We will continue to run these targeted operations to reduce road trauma and keep the community safe.”
