A body has been located at Geelong’s Eastern Beach.
Emergency services were called to the area just before 11.30 this morning, with the woman yet to be formally identified.
Police are investigating, trying to work out the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
They say the Homicide Squad will be at the scene.
City of Greater Geelong CEO Ali Wastie said lifeguards were alerted by a member of the public.
“City officers are now reviewing the CCTV footage, and we are assisting Victoria police with their investigations,” she said.
“I want to praise first responders for their prompt efforts in this tragic situation, and also recognise the community member who alerted the lifeguards.”
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
