Around 200,000 potholes will be fixed across the state as part of Victoria’s biggest roads blitz.

$1 billion will be put aside in next month’s budget to repair and resurface the road network, while there will also be grafitti removal works on major freeways, including the Westgate.

The government said 70 per cent of of the funds would go towards regional Victorian issues.

Member for Lara Ella George said it was an issue that had been constantly brought up with her.

“Particularly in places that are a bit further out, places like Anakie – the condition of the roads out there is brought up a lot,” she said.

“Also the conditions of roads around the Princes Highway is something a lot.”

However, the Victorian opposition remains sceptical of the announcement, saying previous announcements have been made with no action.
