Police are investigating an assault at Lara’s Western Plains Correctional Centre, with one man taken to hospital.
A Department of Justice and Community Safety spokesperson confirmed an incident between two prisoners this afternoon, and said no other prisoners or staff were injured.
One prisoner was taken to hospital with upper body injuries, Ambulance Victoria confirming paramedics were called to the facility around 12.20pm on Good Friday.

Victoria Police detectives have commenced investigations into the incident, describing the man’s injuries as non-life-threatening.
The Western Plains Correctional Centre opened in June 2025.
