Train services have returned along the Geelong line for Thursday morning, after a track fault caused peak hour chaos throughout Wednesday evening.
All services were suspended between Southern Cross, Sunshine and Wyndham Vale, due to a track fault.
Trains were back online later in the evening at a reduced speed between Sunshine and Ardeer.
The latest update on the V/Line website suggests trains are running again on Thursday morning with a reduced capacity of 3 V/Locity carriages ‘due to a earlier rail equipment fault.’
The Department of Transport and Planning has thanked passengers for their patience as crews made the necessary repairs and worked to restore services.
