Investigations are continuing into the shooting death of a horse in Lovely Banks.
Dane was last seen alive in a paddock of Anakie Road on the night of September 16, but was found collapsed the next morning.
Police believe the 27-year-old horse has suffered a gunshot wound.
His owner reported her pet’s death to police.
Detective Senior Constable Matthew Brock said it was deeply upsetting for the owner.
“We are still working to determine exactly what occurred – we are not sure at this stage whether someone deliberately killed this horse or whether it was accidentally shot by hunters in the area,” he said.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area, no matter how insignificant they think that information may seem.”
Anyone with information is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
