Repairs on Geelong’s skate parks are happening with the local council saying some facilities need a refresh ahead of the warmer weather.
Works started on the Lara park last week, which has been closed to local skaters while crews finish maintenance and repairs.
The City of Greater Geelong says other facilities will be closed for a short time while they undergo upgrades.
Mayor Trent Sullivan said the skate parks were important within the community.
“We understand the importance of providing fully functional skate parks that are easily accessible to neigbouring residents, giving skaters of all ages facilities that are both fun and challenging,” Cr Sullivan said.
“At the same time, we need to ensure that the equipment is safe for use and meets current Australian standards.”
There are 14 skate facilities across the municipality.
