A controversial project on the Surf Coast has been given the go-ahead by the states planning watchdog.
VCAT this week approved the Cypress Lane retirement village plan in Torquay.
More than 100 people had opposed the $50 million dollar development last year, worried it was not consistent with the council’s planning schemes.

The Surf Coast Council in April supported amended plans to the development.
The amended proposal that went before councillors included 191 independent living units, 334 resident car parking paces and 43 visitor car parking spaces.
