Community consultation has opened for the state government’s review of the Greater Geelong bus network.
Lara MP Ella George said the review will shape the future of buses around Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and Bannockburn.
“People in Geelong and the Bellarine deserve a bus network that works for them,” she said.
“Buses connect people to jobs, schools, shops, and hospitals, and as our communities grow, the networks need to grow with them.
“The bus review will look at how services can better reflect changing travel patterns and the growing suburbs, and identify improvements for the future.”
Ms George hopes residents of her electorate will speak up about the connections they need most.
“In Lara, we’ve seen a lot of growth in the new estates, particularly around Lara West, and those areas are not serviced as best as they can be by buses,” she said.
“Something I really hope to see come out of this review is local residents telling us where they want to see their buses go, and making some improvements to the routes around Lara.
“It’s really important that we hear form as many people as possible to get a full understanding of what bus services are needed for our region now, and into the future.”
Consultation closes on Sunday 12 April, with information on how to get involved available here.
