Dumping illegal rubbish continues to be an issue across the region.
The City of Greater Geelong has received over 3,000 calls for help to remove dumped rubbish since July.
The council says it had more than 7,000 calls for assistance in the 2024/25 financial year.
It comes after locals took to social media about rubbish dumped outside their property gate on Beach Road, Avalon.
Amanda Locke from the council said they were called to remove a significant quantity.
“This is Council land, which means the City is responsible for collecting the rubbish, whereas owners are responsible for clearing rubbish on private land,” Ms Locke said.
“The problem of illegally dumped rubbish is a considerable expense to Council each year.
“Investigations into this matter are ongoing, and the illegal dumping of rubbish can result in a fine.”
Residents who notice any illegal activities regarding rubbish are being urged to take photos or licence plate details before reporting it to the city.
Matters can also be reported to EPA Victoria on 1300 372 842.
