An unpleasant odour has again descended on our city, with EPA Victoria getting to the bottom of it.

They’ve identified a farm to the west of the city as the source of the stink, saying it’s understood organic products such as chicken manure were applied to the farm earlier this week.

Investigations are underway to see if any further action is required, but EPA South West Regional Manager Martha-Rose Loughnane said they believe the smell will dissipate in coming days, thanking locals for reporting the issue.

“The public are our eyes, ears and nose,” she said.

“If you smell something you shouldn’t, get in touch with us via our 24/7 hotline or through our online portal.”

The odour is not believed to be related to February’s big stink, which involved the spreading of manure on farms across Geelong and the Surf Coast.
