Stop sticks for Hoppers Crossing evade

A Werribee man is facing a series of charges after he tried to run from police in a stolen car.

Police were called about a stolen Audi in Hoppers Crossing yesterday, before following the car and later using stop sticks.

“Officers were called to reports an allegedly stolen Audi sedan was parked outside a property on Colliet Place about 2.20pm,” police said in a statement.

“Police followed the vehicle to Tarneit Road, before stop sticks were deployed on Heaths Road.

“The driver, a 27-year-old Werribee man, was arrested at the scene.

“He’s been charged with theft of motor vehicle, drive manner dangerous, drive whilst disqualified ad traffic drug of dependence.

“The Werribee man has been bailed to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court at a later date.”
