The history of Geelong’s rainbow community will be documented through a state government funded regional pride program.
The project involves creating augmented reality maps of Geelong, Ballarat and Shepparton’s queer history.
Thirteen community groups, organisations and artists will share in funding as part of the Regional Activation Program for Victoria’s Pride.
Victorian Equality Minister Harriet Shing said it was about celebrating LGTBIQ+ Victorians.
“To make sure we’re telling queer stories across regional Victoria,” she said.
“This particular grant for Queer-ways will mean that we can map those histories and tell those stories right across Geelong.”
