They are escalating industrial and political action in the fight for better pay and conditions.

Locals will be outside Geelong MP Christine Couzens’ office, demanding the Victorian government offer decent conditions and pay.

Elaine Gillespie from the Education Union said they were seeing widespread resignations.

“We’ve got a lot of our TAFE teachers actualy leaving and going back into industry where they can get better pay and conditions,” she said.

“So not only can we not hang onto the TAFE teachers that we’ve got, we’ve absolutely no hope of attracting new TAFE teachers.”

The Union said teachers had unsustainable workloads and carried huge administrative burdens.

There will be rolling half-day stopworks across Victoria over the next two weeks.
