Isaac underwent emergency surgery but sadly died in hospital on Wednesday, while Mavis continues to get treatment on severe burns.

The children’s father, Kane McGregor, said the children’s mother found Isaac trying to shelter Ashlynn and Saige from the flames.

“Isaac had the other two huddled under him, so that they didn’t burn,” he told media.

“At least they went quick and didn’t suffer.”

Mr McGregor said he was heartbroken.

A GoFundMe page set up to assist the family has raised more than $55-thousand.

“Issac sadly grew his wings and reunited with his baby brother and sister,” an updated message on the website reads.

“He will always be remembered as the heroic young boy who gave his life trying to protect his siblings.

“We thank everyone so much from the bottom of our hearts for all the donations and support.
