A man has been taken to hospital after a collision between a Melbourne-bound train and a taxi at South Geelong.
The accident took place at the Kilgour Street level crossing, near Kardinia Park, just after 7am on Monday morning.
One person, believed to be the taxi driver, was taken to hospital with what Geelong Broadcasters has been told are non-life threatening injuries.
The Ford station wagon taxi suffered extensive front end damage and its rear driver’s side door was torn off.
Dozens of passengers were aboard the train at the time, however Geelong Broadcasters understands they were not injured.
Coaches have replaced trains between Geelong and Waurn Ponds, with V\Line engineers now assessing the scene.
