Two nabbed in early morning arrests

A busy night for our local police with multiple arrests made.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old Newcomb man around 3.30am in possession of what was described as a medium sized quantity of cannabis on Fellmongers Road Breakwater.

The man was charged with possession of cannabis and displaying false plates and will face court later this year.

Police said there wre lessons to learn about cannabis use.

“People need to understand how dangerous cannabis is – it’s a segway drug and exacerbates mental health conditions,” a spokesperson said.

“We see it destroy peoples lives

Just half an our earlier a 35-year-old Thompson man was arrested on Loch Street while looking into cars, found to be in possession of a knife and amphetamine.

He was also charged with giving a false name or address and will face court later this year.

“The incident highlights the importance of locking your cars, keeping them parked off roads, keeping valuables out of sight and installing car alarms.”
