Desalinated water will soon be flowing to Geelong.
The Victorian government has ordered 150 billion litres of water from the state’s Desalination Plant for Melbourne and Geelong.
It comes as Geelong’s water storages have dropped to just over 37 per cent, compared to 41.1 per cent this time in 2025.

The government says storages in the two cities have seen the steepest annual decline since the Millennium drought.
Geelong has officially recorded 73mm of rainfall since the start of the year.
The region is under Permanent Water Saving Rules, which can be found on the Barwon Water website.
