Water restrictions reduced

Recent wet weather has led to relaxed restrictions across some local communities, residents still urged to consider their water usage wisely.

Barwon Water has announced restrictions will be downgraded from Stage Three to Stage Two across Apollo Bay, Marengo, and Skenes Creek.

Coming into effect on July 1, the update will allow locals to:

  • use a hand-held, trigger-nozzle hose to water residential and commercial gardens
  • wash cars, boats, and other vehicles at home
  • fill pools and spas with a capacity of up to 2000 litres

Residents can use a watering system for gardens, only on alternate days between 6am to 8am and 6pm to 8pm.

Limits on hosing down hard surfaces remain in place, while lawns, both residential and commercial, can not be watered at any time.

Stage Three restrictions were introduced on May 10 after a dry period, with Stage Two previously announced in early April.

Barwon Water said water storages were sitting at 36.2% as of June 23, having sat as low as 20.4% earlier in the month.
