A man who died in a factory explosion and fire in Melbourne’s west has been identified as a 44-year-old from Hoppers Crossing.
The man was working at a premises on Swann Drive, Derrimut just before 10am on Thursday when the blast ripped thorugh the building.
Around 30 staff were evacuated as the factory caught alight.
It took more than 80 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
Two other people were injured and were treated at the scene by paramedics.
The incident is still under investigation, however it is believed to have happened as chemicals were being mixed.
The dead man’s name has not been released.
