Wyndham shop fire treated as ‘targeted attack’

Two Wyndham shops have been targeted in the early hours.

There was a ram raid on a tobacco store on Tarneit Road, Werribee around 4am Tuesday.

It is believed offenders tried to set a fire but were not successful, and run off, leaving the vehicle on scene.

Police say it is being treated as a targeted incident.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a Middle Eastern grocery store in Hoppers Crossing around 4.40am.

A passerby managed to put the flames out at the Costas Drive business before emergency crews arrived.

No-one was inside at the time, and police are treating the incident as a targeted attack at this stage.
