Coach Megan Moody paying tribute to her side – and United’s fans post game.
“Especially to see the amazing fan support we had in the stand, the crowd of Geelong supporters was phenomenal,” she told media.
“Disappointing we weren’t able to bring home a championship for the crowd, for our fans and the community of Geelong, not quite the ending we wanted.
“This team has loved playing together and loved playing for each other – which is probably why it hurt so much last night.”
It was the end to what had been a great day for the club, with Jaz Shelley named as the league’s MVP, as well as claiming the Golden Hands awards and First Team honours.
Hannah Hank was also named to the league’s first team, with Gemma Potter was joint winner of the defensive player of the year and Megan Moody named coach of the year.
