Honestly, scam artists and information thieves need to seriously go away!
Australia Post have sent out another warning this morning, informing people that a rising surge of scam messages impersonating Australia Post is happening. The fraudulent messages are often impersonating Australia Post and telling you that a delivery of yours has failed, and that to redirect it you need to follow a link which will then steal personal information.
The newest of scams are becoming increasingly harder to block sadly as this latest scam is part of the ‘Dracula’ phishing-as-a-service operation. Dracula allows scammers to imitate and look similar to other well-known brands, which allows them to fulfil these scams over iMessage and RCS with the appearance of brands you know. These scams can come through as a text directly to your phone, see image below to find reference as to how they may appear:

Most businesses these days are aware of how common fraudulent messages are and have slowly moved to not sending links with requests to personal information. One of the largest indicators of scams is when they provide you a link to follow, with a request for information or credit card details. A lot of post scammers will attempt to charge you a small redirection fee and request your card details. If for any reason you have a genuine issue with Australia Post don’t follow any link provided in an email, go into your web browser or the Aus Post app and take the long way around to be safe, if there is a genuine issue you’ll find it there when you log in.
