Aussies, get ready for a flavour trip to Japan because KFC is dropping a brand-new menu item that combines our two great loves: fried chicken and Japanese-inspired flavours.

KFC has just announced the launch of its Sweet Tokyo Hot & Crispy chicken, hitting menus nationwide from today. For the first time ever, the fast-food giant is giving its legendary Hot & Crispy boneless chicken a Tokyo-inspired makeover.

So, what can you expect? Each piece of chicken is coated in a sticky-sweet teriyaki glaze and finished with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. KFC describes it as a “mouthwatering fusion of textures and tastes – crispy yet saucy, sweet yet savoury.”

To celebrate the launch, KFC is rolling out a world-first vending machine at a secret location on 18 October, dishing out free Sweet Tokyo Hot & Crispy chicken to lucky fans. If you want to get your hands on some, you’ll need to keep an eye on KFC’s social media channels for clues to find its location.

Sally Spriggs, Group Marketing Director at KFC, commented on the new flavour experience.
“At KFC, we love surprising our fans with new flavour experiences, and Sweet Tokyo Hot & Crispy is one of our most exciting yet,” she said. “Australians already love Japanese-inspired flavours, so we wanted to bring a little taste of Tokyo to KFC with our iconic Hot & Crispy twist.”

The new flavour is available in a 3- or 6-piece pack starting from $8.45. You can also grab it in the Sweet Tokyo Fill Up (with chips, potato and gravy, and a dinner roll) or the Sweet Tokyo Box, which includes a Zinger Burger.

The Sweet Tokyo Hot & Crispy is a limited-time offering, available at select KFC restaurants across Australia from Tuesday, 7 October until Monday, 3 November. You can also order it for delivery via the KFC App.
