A man has been flown to hospital with critical injuries following an assault at Barwon Prison this morning.
Authorities say the prisoner was attacked by other inmates just before nine and paramedics were then called to the Lara high security jail.
The man suffered upper body injuries in the attack and is said to be in a critical condition in hospital where he’s undergoing further assessment.

No staff were injured in the incident and Victoria Police has been notified, as further investigations into the assault continue.
