The bird swooping season is underway, with more than 12 reported incidents of magpies and plovers targeting cyclists and walkers across Geelong.
The latest incident was reported on the Magpie Alert website on Monday in Clifton Springs.
The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) says the native birds are trying to protect their nests while their young are most vulnerable.
Swooping can occur in areas including parks, gardens, cycling and walking paths, however not all native birds will be targeting humans.
DEECA says the season will only last for a few weeks, and usually stops when the young have left the nest.
Anyone concerned about protective birds can head online to find out more.
