Two local councils are calling for a public transport vehicle only corridor between Geelong and Torquay.
Geelong and Surf Coast want bipartisan support in the lead up to November’s election to invest in a rapid transit corridor.
Shadow Minister Matthew Guy said he’s aware of the proposal.
“Mayor Stretch Kontelj has done a lot with the council, and some good work,” he said.
“If I was the transport minister I’d be very interested in having a conversation with them about advancing it further.”
He’s added he’ll look into a Department of Transport review into bus services in the region if his party wins November’s election.
He said he wouldn’t accept any recommendations blindly.
“I don’t want to review things for the sake of reviewing them,” he said.
“But I’ll absolutely read those reviews and recommendations before we comment on accepting them.”
