Container Deposit Scheme locations for the region are being revealed ahead of the November 1 start date for the program in Victoria.
Newcomb Central Shopping Centre, Colac Plaza and Bacchus Marsh FoodWorks will each have a depot under operator TOMRA.
The company is responsible for managing metropolitan and regional collection points west of Melbourne and has named a total of 11 sites between Daylesford and Geelong, Colac and Altona North.
At these locations machines will scan the barcode on a wide range of beverage containers larger than 150ml and smaller than 3L, made from aluminium. glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard. Eligible containers will produce a 10c refund per item.
Further sites will be rolled out according to the state government, that says within 12 months of scheme commencing zone operators will be required to have a minimum of one refund point per 14,500 people in metropolitan areas, at least one per town of 750 people in regional areas, and at least one per town of 350 people in remote areas.
“The exact location of each refund point is being finalised, through negotiations between the Zone Operators and their refund point partner organisations,” a government spokesperson said.
