A Bellbrae man is due in court today following a dramatic arrest in the Surf Coast town, where shots were reportedly fired by police.
Officers were called to an alleged assault on Cunningham Drive on Friday evening, but say a man ran from the scene.
A search involving the police helicopter, Critical Incident Response Team and Special Operations Group got underway.
Police say the man was arrested less than three hours later.
A 24-year-old was charged with offences including conduct endangering life, assault an emergency worker and possessing a controlled weapon.
Police and SES were back in the area over the weekend, reportedly looking for a weapon following Friday night’s arrest.
