India is the latest on the list of nations Geelong has moved to strengthen ties with.
Council holding the first Geelong India Business Roundtable this week as they look to build business and investment opportunities.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj says Geelong has a genuine opportunity to build into future markets.
“I had high expectations for this event going in, but the first Geelong India Business Roundtable has absolutelyexceeded them,” he said.
“To have so many key representatives from both the Geelong and Indian economies in the one place to
explore opportunities is a significant win for our city.
“What is absolutely clear from the event is that there is so much opportunity for economic growth and new jobs for our city which is just waiting to be explored.”
Discussions continue for a Geelong-India Business and Investment Forum later this year.
