A driver has died after crashing into a tree in Bannockburn on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Midland highway at about 6.30am, finding the male driver had crashed into a tree between Kelly Lane and Madden Road.
The driver, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Police believe the same person was seen driving erratically in Lethbridge in a white Toyota Camry, also along the Midland Highway about 7.30pm on Tuesday night.
Officers intercepted the vehicle however the driver took off and officers lost sight of him on Geelong Road.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined with investigations ongoing.

The fatal crash adds to a tragic night on roads in the region, after another crash on Boundary Road in Truganina claimed the life of a driver.
The unidentified driver also left the road and crashed into a tree around 12am Wednesday morning.
The incidents follow a devastating double fatal head-on collision on Cape Otway Road in Moriac on Monday night, where a 23-year-old from Moriac and a 59-year-old from Winchelsea sadly died at the scene.
Police have raised concern at the amount of lives lost of Victorian roads, which currently stands at 148 so far this year.
It is only four less than the total at the same time last year, with 2023 being the worst year for road deaths in 15 years.
