Federal funding for local schools

Essential upgrades at several local public schools will be funded by the federal government.

The Schools Upgrade project funds projects including new playground equipment, room and toilet block refurbishments.

Newcomb Primary has received just over $250,000 to upgrade a surface and undercover area, including new turf.

Almost $500,000 has been announced for Geelong High to refurbish toilet facilities.

Rollins Primary in Batesford will receive more than $570,000 to replace its perimeter fence.

Meantime, several private schools have also received funding through a Capital Grants Program,

St Joesph’s Catholic Primary School in Werribee will have $5 million to build the third stage of a primary school, which will include six general learning areas.

The government has announced $2.2 million for Freshwater Creek Steiner School to build a Year 5 and 6 classroom.
