More people are going to hospital with respiratory illnesses in Geelong, with concerns Influenza B cases are rising,.
The City of Greater Geelong has recorded 1,051 cases of flu so far this year, compared to 1,416 this time in 2022.
It is not known how many are Influenza A or B cases.
However, Barwon Health Emergency Services Director, Dr Belinda Hibble said numbers were still rising.
She encouraged locals to get their flu vaccine if they had not already this year.
“We do every year, see healthy adults become very, very sick from influenza,” Dr Hibble said.
“The flu vaccine definitely reduces how contagious the flu is.”
