Works are underway to upgrade the Avalon Beach boat ramp.
The $1.8 million project has been funded through Better Boating Victoria, and will include extending the two jetties to double the berthing capacity.
There will room for 36 car and trailer spaces, line marking and new ashphalt, while wave screens will be rebuilt to protect boaters during windy conditions.

The City of Greater Geelong says the ramp is well used for recreational boating and fishing.
The works should be finished later this year, weather permitting.
