New innovation hub at Deakin

ben carroll manufutures twitterA new innovation hub allowing Deakin University and businesses to work together has been opened.

The ManuFutures 2 facility, based at Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus, will allow uni researchers and businesses to develop, test and manufacture new products.

It is an extension of the original ManuFutures hub, which opened in 2018.

Businesses including paint recycling initiative Paintback, textile and coating technologies, have already moved into the facility.

Manufacturing Sovereignty Ben Carroll said there were around 24,000 manufacturing business in the state, providing around 30 per cent of Australia’s manufacturing output.

“Victoria is the advanced manufacturing capital of Australia,” he said.

“The expansion of ManuFutures will help local businesses to innovate and create jobs.”
