A woman’s death in a Newtown house fire is no longer being treated as suspicious after detectives from the arsons and explosives squad were on scene throughout Monday.The woman believed to be in her 60’s was asleep when neighbours reported her Upper Skene Street home was engulfed in flames around 2 am Monday morning.
Emergency services arrived on scene to find the woman inside the home, but she sadly died at the scene.

Witnesses described the inferno as “absolutely fierce.”
Police initially launched an investigation into the fire, before further investigation suggested it was not suspiciously lit and the matter is now before the coroner.
It is still unclear how the fire started.
