Music festival Spilt Milk is moving to Geelong.
The festival – held in Victoria since 2019 – set to call our region home until 2030.
The announcement made this morning with Visit Victoria and City of Greater Geelong involved in bringing the event locally.
Kardinia Park and the surrounding precinct is set to play host of the event in its new era in Geelong.
Director Ryan Sabet said Geelong was the perfect fit.
“Geelong is the perfect stage for the festival’s next five years,” he said.
“We want to thank Visit Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong for backing what Spilt Milk can do – their support means we can keep proving that a world-class festival doesn’t need a capital city and keep bringing tens of thousands of young people to regional Victoria every December.”
The evnt has previously hosted major artists including Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Lorde, Childish Gambino and Dom Dolla.
The event has also resulted in more than $46 million dollars in economic impact for the state since its launch.
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj says the event will bring that economic impact to our region.
“Geelong is a city that loves a big occasion, and Spilt Milk arrives with a proven record – more than $46 million delivered into a regional Victorian economy and tens of thousands of young visitors every December,” he said.
“They’ll fill our hotels, our restaurants and our waterfront, while plenty of them will discover a city worth coming back to. We’re proud to welcome Australia’s largest regional touring festival to Geelong for the next five years.”
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO Gerard Griffin said the venue was the perfect home.
“KPST has always been committed to bringing a diverse mix of content to the stadium, and to have Australia’s largest and most popular single-day music festival, taking place at Kardinia Park stadium and precinct, is a significant moment for the community of Geelong.”
The lineup for the event is set to be announced soon, with a pre-sale for tickets
