It took until just under ten minutes remaining in the Trade Period, but Geelong has been part of a four-club trade that will see Bailey Smith in the Hoops in 2025.
The Cats, who offered up their first-round draft pick (currently 17) to the Western Bulldogs for the 23-year-old, have also handed over selection 38 while receiving pick 45.
Pick 38 was used by the Bulldogs to get Matt Kennedy from Carlton, while pick 45 started at St Kilda.
he Saints used that to land Dogs veteran Jack Macrae.
Drafted with pick No.7 in the 2018 National Draft from Talent League club Sandringham Dragons, Smith has played 103 goals and kicked 44 goals for the Dogs.
However, a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament suffered before Christmas last year ended his 2024 season before it started.
“We’re excited Bailey will be wearing the hoops from 2025 and beyond,” Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said.
“At just 23 he is a talented player whose attributes gives us on-field flexibility and he will complement our current playing group.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Bailey into our football club and our broader Geelong community.”
Geelong holds picks 45, 57, 75 and 93 heading into next month’s National Draft.
