Jaz Shelley is leaving Geelong United ahead of the upcoming NBL 1 season.
Geelong United Basketball has announced the skipper and the NBL 1 side have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.
The local organisation said it followed respectful and ongoing discussions between both parties, describing Jaz as a a key contributor to both the Geelong United NBL1 programs.
Jaz has thanked both the club and community for making her feel at home.
“I want to thank Geelong United for the chance to be a part of an amazing group of girls and the opportunities provided to me both on and off the court over the past two years,” she said.
“I leave Geelong with memories that will last a lifetime, including last year’s undefeated regular season, many new friendships and the opportunity to immerse myself in this incredible community.”
Geelong United has celebrated Jaz’s commitment to her teammates, her professionalism, and her willingness to immerse herself in the Geelong community,.
Geelong United Basketball CEO Mark Neeld said they wish Jaz all the best for her future endeavours and will be supporting from afar.
“On behalf of the Geelong United Basketball community, I’d like to thank Jaz for her valuable contribution on and off the court over the last 2 years,” he said.
“Her level of play, professionalism, and leadership has made an impact on us all.”
Geelong United’s first game of the NBL 1 season is on Saturday 28 March.
