Great conditions expected for start of Vic Open

The Vic Open officially kicks off in Barwon Heads on Thursday.

Men and women are once again playing together but in two separate tournaments, each worth $420,000, across the Beach and Creek courses at 13th Beach Golf Links.

Former world number one and reigning champion Jiyai Shin will be defending her crown, attempting to become the first back-to-back Vic Open women’s champion.

Meanwhile, Kiwi Kazuma Kobori’s among the favourites in the men’s field as he chases a third consecutive Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia title.

Famously one of the friendliest and most inclusive major events on the calendar, the Australian Wheelchair Championship will return.

The AWC is a 36-hole championship for seated golfers who play golf through assistive equipment such as an all-terrain power chair designed specifically for golf and is the only event of its type in the southern hemisphere.

As an added bonus, visitors are also invited to bring their dogs while the walk the fairways with players throughout the course of the four days.
