Arrests over aggravated burglary

UPDATE:

Two teenagers have been charged over an alleged aggravated burglary in Werribee.

Police allege two males, armed with weapons, forced their way into an Otterham Way property just after 1am.

The 14 and 15-year-olds, have been charged with home invasion, assault and car theft.

They are due to face a children’s court today.

EARLIER:

Police have arrested two teenagers following an aggravated burglary and assault in Werribee overnight.

It is alleged the 15 and 14-year-old boys forced entry into a property on Ottherham Way, where a resident was allegedly assaulted.

“The 45-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening slash wounds,” police said in a statement.

“Three others were inside at the time and were not physically injured.”

The pair then allegedly stole car keys and tried to steal a car before being arrested.

“Police responded and blocked the vehicle in before arresting one of the teens at the scene,” the statement said.

“The other teenager fled on foot and was arrested nearby.

“The 15-year-old and 14-year-old boys, both from the Wyndham area, were taken into custody to be interviewed.”
