Fire crews on alert during warm weather

A community information message remains in place for a grassfire at Anakie as fire crews brace for more warm weather.

As temperatures climbed into the mid 30’s in Geelong yesterday, fire crews were called to Granite Road around midday, with an advice message issued at one stage for smoke in the area.

Geelong recorded a high of 34.7 on Sunday around 3:00pm, around 4:30pm the Anakie grass fire was declared under control.

There’s a high fire danger rating for the region, with a top of 32 today and 34 tomorrow, before a possible storm and showers are expected to in the afternoon and evening.
