A teenager robbed and assaulted on her way home from training has received support from other local football and netball clubs.
The 15-year-old was approached by three females around 5.30pm Tuesday on Heyers Road, Grovedale, having her phone stolen.
She was walking home from netball training with the Grovedale Tigers.
Other clubs including Surf Coast Suns and Armstrong Creek Sharks have taken to social media, saying they are saddened to hear of the assault, and their thoughts are with her, family, friends and the Tigers community.
They are also reminding people to be more aware, as it is getting darker earlier.
Some of the safety notices including remaining in a well-lit area while waiting to be picked up, walk with friends or teammates where possible and stick to well-lit areas.
They are also urging players to ask a coach, volunteer or teammate for help getting home safely.
Detectives are investigating the assault, and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
